The 57th Annual Banff Book Discussion Weekend
If you enjoy reading and discussing books then this weekend will be a real treat. The Banff Book Discussion is held at the Banff Centre from Friday evening to Sunday noon, June 1 – 3rd 2018. During the weekend we have four book discussions. There is a book discussion on Friday Evening, discussions on Saturday AM and Saturday PM and the guest author’s book is discussed on Sunday morning. Elizabeth Hay will do a public reading on Saturday afternoon at the Banff Centre. She will be reading and answering questions to our group on Sunday morning, after our break-out discussions on His Whole Life. The book selections for 2018 have been chosen to stimulate thought and discussion and to appeal to adults. The atmosphere is friendly and informal. There are no prerequisites for this program other than reading the books before attending the discussions! Social gatherings take place after the Friday and Saturday PM discussions.
Featured Author – Elizabeth Hay
Following our Sunday book discussion on His Whole Life, Elizabeth Hay our guest author for 2018 will be read from and discuss her latest novel.
His Whole Life
“It’s a gorgeous book. I had to read it outside and I read it in two days. She plays beautifully with the metaphor of politics, but it’s not a political book. It’s a book about a boy and his family, about what binds us together, what pushes us apart. Elizabeth Hay is unquestionably one of the country’s great writers. For me, this is her best yet.”
— Sean Wilson, CBC Radio’s “All in a Day”
What a great thrill to have Elizabeth Hay join us in 2018!
Accommodation is available at the Banff Centre or off-campus at the various B & B or hotels in the area.
